My office mate told us a really touching story the other day...
She went for Iftar with her father and brother at a pizza restaurant. When they were done, they asked to waiter to take the remaining full slices and pack them neatly. They were intending to give them away to any one in need. They went out of the restaurant, and noticed an old man who is apparently in need, setting at the pavement, eating a slice of dry bread and sipping some tea for Iftar. That was his Iftar meal! A slice of bread and a cup of tea. So they decided to give him the pizza, and her brother started walking towards the old man.
When the man realized that the brother was heading to him, he sat well, and once the brother was close enough, the old man offered him the tea and said "Have some tea, my son"
The guy was astonished. He refused politely. The old man insisted: "Come on son, this is some really good tea". The guy was shocked. All what the old man had was a slice of bread and a cup of tea, and he was offering the tea genuinely!
Really, that cup of tea is worth a ten thousand dollars that some spoiled rich person would donate, and still keep millions other than them!
Noble people are noble people, regardless of their circumstances...

DeleteOh, the picture... It is really dear to my heart because this old lady looks very much like my late grandmother :-) I see my grandmother's shy laugh in this picture... May Allah rest her soul in peace and treat her with his mercy...

DeleteMAshaAllah love this story. It reminds me of an interview with Tony Blair's sister in law that I saw on FaceBook. She was saying that she was visiting somewhere (I can't remember the country) and the Muslim woman was very poor and all she had was a few things to eat, much like the old man in your story. When it came time to eat, the woman insisted that Tony Blair's sister in law take a share of her food. This was the pivotal moment in her life and masha Allah she converted.

First time I know that Tony Blair's sister in law is a Muslim! :-)
