I expect this blog to be read by sisters only... So if you were a brother: "Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, [so leave me], if you should be fearing of Allah " (Surah: Maryam, Ayah: 18)

The Amazing Thirties!

For so many years I resisted getting older...

I remember when I hit 18 I kept that feeling of 18 until 21... at 21, I suddenly realized that I passed my TWENTY milestone and had a tearful breakdown! NO! Twenties what? I wanted to stay a child for some more time!

And then, after I realized that I was already past twenty, I started dreading 25... I wanted to enjoy those "young" years where we can explore, read, do community work, do voluntary work, being busy with all sorts of things without worrying that "it's about the time to settle down"... I did not want to settle down...

Then, after twenty five, and two marriage projects that died before being born (LOL) I stopped resisting... I decided that thirty would be the age of wisdom... early wisdom, let's say... and I opened my arms wide waiting for the golden three-oh to come...

First thing that happened when I stopped resisting, I did not reach thirty alone, I reached it while married to my husband. And this was the first preparation for the thirty wisdom that appeared to not be wise at all... LOL!

I got my son at thirty one... and a whole new chapter of my life was opened. The experience of being a mother is not just a stage of your life that you can continue normally after. Certain realizations hit you when life starts consuming you and pushing you to your limits!

The near-death experience of giving birth, adjusting to your after-birth body, the times when you spend more than 48 hours with no sleep, the times when your baby cries non-stop for a time that can easily make any one other than his mom want to throw him out, surviving throughout all of this, and melting your heart for the sight of his first smile, is too much for a human being to remain the same...

The so many swings between the hell of difficulties of a mother's life and the heavens of it can either drive one of us crazy, or just explode whatever potential is lying in there... depends on the perspective :-)

Currently, one of my obsessions is fitness, which comes among the larger scheme of "power and ability".

I have discovered what could be my best achievement in 2017: Zumba!

If I would ever think of Zumba before my thirties, I would have put so many obstacles in front of myself that would make it as just a dream. But pair thirties, with motherhood, with career, and the critical need to be either a good living person or a desperate, depressed, frustrated mother and housewife, and you will be a Zumba practitioner!

I have lost 11 kilograms during the past year. Half of which I lost during a difficult 9 months of dieting and feeling down, hungry, lazy and sad all the time. The other half, however, I lost in the past three months, while feeling energetic, happy, merry, and active!

And the reason is that I am doing Zumba! :-D

You do not need tools or instruments. All you need is a beautiful, comfortable, supportive sports outfit, Youtube access, and 15-30 minutes of each day...

Try it, if you are reading this...

And in the coming days I hope I will be able to tell you more...
